Ai Ogura from Honda Team Asia, lifts the winner’s trophy in Jerez de la Frontera circuit

Ai Ogura, Japanese Honda Team Asia rider achieved his first victory in the world championship by winning the Moto2 Spanish Grand Prix at the “Ángel Nieto” circuit in Jerez de la Frontera.

The pilot led the race and resisted the relentless pressure of his rivals.

Ai, after his victory said: “ Today I’m 120% happy. It’s my first victory in World Championship. Always I was finishing in good positions but never first. We really needed it. Nothing can be better. Yesterday I did my first pole position in Moto2. Today I started first, and I finished first. Thanks to the team who provided me with a perfect bike, I did a perfect race. This weekend I was more competitive than in other races. I usually struggle on Day 1, and here In Jerez, I started well on Friday. I was a little worried this morning, but finally, I finished first. The plan was to start first to finish first to avoid issues. That was exactly what we wanted. I knew that many motorcycle fans were waiting for this victory. I’m happy we did it finally.”
